Governing Bodies in Australian Greyhound Racing

The Australian Greyhound Racing Association (AGRA) is divided into many state governing bodies, which regulate greyhound welfare and living conditions in Australia.


Victoria

Greyhound Racing Victoria is the body responsible for promoting and controlling the sport if greyhound in the state of Victoria. A key part of its role is the setting of standards, regulating and policing the industry and the people involved. With approximately 800 race meetings held across 13 venues throughout the state, GRV distributes to owners and trainers more than $20 million dollars in prize money every year.


New South Wales

Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) is an independent body charged by the Greyhound Racing Act 2002 to represent, fund and control the commercial operations of the greyhound racing industry in New South Wales.


South Australia

Greyhound Racing SA Limited (GRSA) is the controlling body for greyhound racing in South Australia whose key responsibility is to ensure that the sport is managed in a responsible and ethical manner.

Pursuant with the GRSA Constitution, GRSA's role is to establish, adopt and enforce both the South Australian and Australian rules of racing and to ensure the sport is effectively conducted in South Australia.


Queensland

Greyhound Racing in Queensland is governed by Racing Queensland Limited (RQL).


Western Australia

Greyhound racing in Western Australia is controlled by Racing and Wagering Western Australia. Meanwhile, the Western Australian Greyhound Racing Association (WAGRA) currently manages three tracks in Western Australia with the first track being established in 1974 at Cannington, the second in 1979 at Mandurah and Northam in 1996.


Tasmania

Greyhound Racing in Tasmania is governed by Tasracing. Greyhound racing in Tasmania is conducted at three venues - Hobart, Launceston and Devonport. Races are conducted over distances ranging from 278 to 720 metres.


Northern Territory

The Darwin Greyhound Racing Club is the home of greyhound racing in the Northern Territory.


Australian Capital Territory

The Canberra Greyhound Racing Club is the home of greyhound racing in the Australian Capital Territory.
